Dear Life by Meghan Quinn ~ Review & Swoon Thursday (@AuthorMegQuinn, @wordsmithpublic)

If there is a book you should begin your 2017 with, it should be this one. It was heartbreaking to begin with, and I had tears streaming down my face, but it all came together nicely in the end!

Four lives. Four stories. Four sets of letters. Four brave souls in need of guidance while facing life's greatest challenges.

The anonymously published Dear Life program is designed to help them step outside of their comfort zones, face their obstacles, and relinquish their demons...and prove their existence.

With their lives teetering between wanting more and losing it all, all four souls dive into the program as a New Year’s resolution, sending them on a crazy, life-altering journey.

Dear Life,

Please be kind.

Yours truly, Hollyn, Jace, Daisy, and Carter

What a beautiful book to begin 2017!! Dear Life was such a moving, emotional read that had me crying tears of sadness, that eventually turned into tears of joy. These four people had such different stories, that bought them together doing a program to try and help them to heal. My heart ached for each of them, but I loved seeing them grow, become better people and find a new way to be happy.

Hollyn... OMG! This girl went through a very difficult time, and was finding it hard to move on and get past her grief. I could not imagine going through that type of loss.

Daisy! What a sweet, but sheltered girl she tirned out to be! I loved that she was trying to get out and become her own person, with the help of her half sister and her new friends in the Dear Life program.

I'm a mother, so I found Jace's story particularly hard! I could understand why he did what he did, but I'm sure it would be so difficult to work past the decision that he made.

And then there's Carter, the broody, disinterested guy in the group. I could see that he was angry at what life threw at him, and his bad luck of late pushed him past breaking point!

What none of them expected was to find support in one another, build strong friendships, and maybe something more. They worked through their issues as a group and writing letters to life helped them to sort through their feelings and to get past their problems to be able to live again.

Meghan Quinn blew me away with this book, she drew out so much emotion from me and it impacted me as a person as well. We can't let the world hold us back. Life happens and you need to own who who you are, be happy with yourself and the decisions that you make. I could see how difficult this book would have been for Meghan too, and her Dear Life letter in the back of the book showed me how deeply connected to this story that she was. I loved, Loved, LOVED this book and I cannot stress how much I want people to read it.

I have a link up for everyone at the bottom of the post you can add your swoons to, and I’ll set it up every week! So tell all other swooners out there to come on over, link up so we can visit each other! ***

There are so many good moments in this story, but I loved this one!

"It’s in my blood that I need to be near you, that I want you. There is no denying it. I don’t need you to try to be sexy, because you’re already sexy to me. By being just you, you’re sexy to me.”

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!
