A GAME OF CAT AND MOUSE FILLED WITH DARK DESIRES AND DANGEROUS SECRETS…

Emily Wayborn has made a decision.

She might not fully trust handsome and deadly Reeve Sallis, but he is the one person that gives her what she needs. With Reeve she can finally be herself. Submitting to him is the only thing keeping her grounded as the rest of her life falls apart. But the hotelier is a master at keeping secrets and as she continues her quest for answers someone is making sure she doesn’t find them.

Time is running out and she is questioning everything she thought she knew about friendship and love. She must now make an impossible choice that will determine if she will survive with her heart…or at all.

After reading First Touch at the start of the year I have been keen to get my hands on the follow up book so I could see what would happen to Emily and Reeve, after they faced their latest hurdle. It was one helluva ride, with a few twists thrown in that kept me on edge and unsure of what was going to happen. It was a sizzling, exciting and intense ending to Emily and Reeve’s story.

In the previous book Emily made the decision to stay with Reeve, but the curve-ball that came stopped her in her tracks. She found it hard to be with Reeve and kept her distance from him most of the time. She was unsure of where his heart lay and her submissive nature didn’t allow her to push him. But when Reeve pursued her, I could see what he wanted, but Emily’s loyalties were conflicted.

There were a few elements of suspense in this book as it looked as though they were being targeted by Reeve’s uncle. The threats hit close to home and put everyone on edge. Reeve did what he does best and protected those he loved and put his heart out there for Emily. I could see he was upset due to her indecisiveness, but no matter what he still wanted her.

When Emily and Reeve were together they were still as hot as ever. Reeve knows Emily’s limits and takes her to the edge every time. They are great together and I was hoping they could get past their latest challenge to find what they once had again.

I really enjoyed the mystery in this book and even though I picked it out early on, it was still exciting to see it all unravel. I was a bit angry in the end, just like Emily as she realised what happened and I could understand her fury. There were some threads left open at the end of this book and it appears one of the secondary characters will get his own story. I know that my review seems a little vague… but I don’t want to give anything away! It was a fantastic ending and I look forward to more stories by Laurelin Paige!!

I loved this moment when Reeve was putting his heart on the line!

“I love you so thoroughly it feels like you’re in my DNA. Like you must be part of my genetic code because there’s no part of me that isn’t linked to you. My love for you is so consuming on the inside that there’s barely room.”

Then...

“My love for you is so ferocious, so dominating that I’m possessed by it. It changes who I am. It makes me someone different and yet I’m more who I’ve always believed I am than I ever have been.”

Laurelin PaigeNY Times USA Today Bestselling author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender. She is represented by Rebecca Friedman and Friedman Literary.
