Book Description

Ali has been hiding in an attic since civilisation collapsed eight weeks ago.

When the plague hit, her neighbours turned into mindless, hungry, homicidal maniacs.

Daniel has been a loner his entire life. Then the world empties and he realises that being alone isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Finn is a former cop who is desperate for companionship, and willing to do anything it takes to protect the survivors around him.

When the three cross paths they band together; sparks fly, romance blooms in the wasteland and Ali, Daniel and Finn bend to their very human needs in the ruins of civilisation.

Lust, love and trust all come under fire in Flesh as the three band together to survive, hunted through the suburban wastelands.

My Review

I won this book at a giveaway at Book Chatter Cath and decided to give it a go as I thought it would be a bit of fun, Zombies and Steamy romance with a bit of action thrown in too. And that is exactly what I got.

The first half of the book I thought was more focused on the relationships. From the first chapter we are thrown into where Ali and Daniel first meet, where he stumbles across her in a house in a deserted neighbourhood. He is instantly attracted to her, because lets face it, she’s the only girl that he’s seen since the plague hit, so of course he wants to satisfy those male urges. Ali is a little more reluctant, and tries to keep Daniel at a distance, but he makes it past her barriers in a matter of hours. I didn’t really understand how quickly that could happen, but for the sake of some action, you can let it go.

Finn was drawn to the commotion the pair had made and decided to stalk them. He secretly admired Ali from a distance and wants to swoop in to protect her. He is given the chance and soon the three of them have formed an alliance and stick together. Daniel even talks Ali into giving Finn a chance and soon she is in the other guys bed too.

The second half of the book was more focused on the plot and I enjoyed it more. Don’t get me wrong, there are still some awesome bedroom scenes, but there was also more depth to the story as the plot was unravelled. They are able to live a somewhat normal life, but soon they are betrayed and have to fight to survive and stay together. Even though they are all humans, the guys definitely have that Alpha male vibe coming off them and will do anything to protect Ali. They are loyal and totally hot!

Flesh is a steamy read and I was completely on for the ride!! The author has done a great job telling the story from each character POV. Although the characters want to survive the apocalypse, the book tends to focus on the personal needs and satisfactions of the main characters, than having to kill zombies. And I’d like to mention that the book is set in my country, Australia, so that is a bonus too!! I’m looking forward to the sequel, that’s for sure!!
